Friends of the Force
When not making enjoying music, MForcers can be found out in the community, volunteering, advocating, and generally striving to make a better Hawaiʻi. Below are some organizations that we’ve either worked with, volunteered for, or just highly recommend!
Hui Mahiʻai Āina — Auntie Blanche is the best! Kauhale in Waimānalo providing transitional housing for the houseless. Can you swing a hammer?
Sustainable Coastlines — Beach cleanups are fun and satisfying… you should try one! But these guys do way more behind the scenes, raising awareness of local environmental issues, etc.
Pacific Rim Conservation — They built the predator-proof fence around Kaʻena point to protect the mōlī (Laysan Albatross) colony, among many other amazing efforts.
Mālama Loko Ea Fishpond — Very cool fishpond, very cool organization. In the Waialua area on the North Shore.
Access Surf — Awesome organization getting people with disabilities onto and into the water. Watermen and waterwomen, they can use your help… it will be an extremely rewarding experience.
The Nature Conservancy — Tackling climate change, protecting ocean, land, and fresh water.
Friends of Hakalau Forest — Protecting the largest remaining habitat for Hawaiʻi’s critically endangered endemic birds.
FarmLink — Delicious local fruits, vegetables, canoe crops, meat, fish, booze, and so much more… delivered straight to your door. EBT users get double the buying power!
